Sweets are probably not the top notch main menu in this restaurant but somehow you still can find healthy non-fat pudding and jelly drink for your dessert

Clay barbeque grill for meat lovers. Beef, chicken, and shrimp. This restaurant is a kosher dining place. So you can’t expect to come across pork and ham here.

My Lava cake recipe

Lava cake ingredients

Picture 1: Lava cake ingredients

A lava cake should be soft from the outside and oozing on the inside. If you bake the cake too long, you’ll get a brownies instead. Less duration of baking will give you a raw gooey cake. That’s part of the challenge of making this kind of cake. Another thing you need to remember is that, you have to prepare two bowls for a different batter before mixing them together into one. First of, here are the ingredients you will need to make 6 servings of lava cake.

-Dark chocolate + Chocolate chips (100 grams)
-Butter (7 tablespoon)
-Granulated sugar (1/2 cup)
-All purposed flour (1/2 cup)
– 3 Large chicken eggs
– Cocoa powder (3 tea spoons)
– Vanilla powder (1/2 tea spoon)
– A pinch of salt

Butter the tin ramekins

Picture 2: Butter the tin ramekins

There are two thing that we need to prepare in advance before making the process. First off, butter the tin ramekins thoroughly, the bottom and the side. Be generous when greasing the ramekins with the butter. We don’t want to get our cake sticky with the tin once we’re done baking.

Picture 3: Set the oven up to 220 Celsius degrees

Secondly, preheat the oven up to 220 Celsius degrees or (± 475 Fahrenheit degrees). You can set the heat lower than 220 Celsius degrees, but the baking process will take longer, and in consequence our cake might get too hard and dry on the side. Now we’re ready to prepare the batter.

FIRST BATTER :

You either can steam the chocolate or use a double boiler to melt the chocolate. But I prefer the double boiler.

(Step one)

Melt dark chocolate bars and chocolate chips on a double boiler. It usually takes about 3 or 4 minutes to completely melt the chocolate. On picture 5 you can see the concentration of the melted chocolate that we need to reach before mixing it with butter.

Put the butter into the melted chocolate and stir thoroughly until they're well mixed

(Step two)

Melt the butter and stir thoroughly with the melted chocolate. Look at the picture 7: That is how the melted chocolate will look like after mixed with butter. It only takes 10 seconds to melt the butter. Keep stirring until the batter is smooth. First batter is done. Put aside.

The next preparation is making the second batter, which includes the eggs, all purpose flour, sugar, cocoa powder and vanilla extract.

SECOND BATTER :

Crack the eggs

(Step one)

Crack the eggs and whisk them with electric mixer in a medium speed. Pour all-purpose-flour, sugar, and cocoa powder.

(Step two)

Add a teaspoon of vanilla extract and keep whisking with a low speed until the batter is foamy yet well mixed. Turn off the electric mixer and stir the batter with spatula to clean the side part of the bowl.

Pour the batter into the tin ramekins and set the over timer for 12 minutes. Put the ramekins inside the oven. Picture 20 shows the bottom surface of the cake after 12 minutes of baking process. Dry and soft on the side and a little moist and foamy in the middle. Put the tin ramekin upside down. A knife might come in handy when you have to loosen the edges of the cake. Saturday night outing at Surabi Enhaii

What else can be more energizing than getting rid of your uptight and disheartening weekdays by spending your weekend with people you love. Friends, family, spouse, kids. They could be the source of your laughter and joys although I’ve heard a proverb says that joy is something that you need to create and share, not something that you seek for. Well, given what I had witnessed , joy is also something that we ought to look after. It’s like a pot of flower, we plant it then we need to keep watering it. If we don’t, then it dies. So does joy. Alright, enough for the wisdom craps, coz that’s not what I am here for. At least not for this posting.

Me with the tosca green top. The heejab lady and the girl with black long sleeved shirt are my college mates. And the other one with stripes warm top is our friend from Laos. She came all the way from Vientiane, the capital of Laos to spend her two weeks off in Indonesia

So today is probably the best day of this week for me as I’ve been so psychologically worn out with the ongoing thesis work. For what it’s worth, the joy that comes by spending time with my college mates is beyond compare. This Saturday we went to one of the most-visited eating spot in my schooltown, Bandung City. It’s called Surabi enhaii. Surabi is the name of traditional indonesian pancake, or sort of. Pancake is made of eggs, all-purpose flour and milk and then cooked on a skillet or griddle. While the batter of surabi is made of all-purpose flour and coconut milk and cooked on an Indoensian traditional cooking utensil called “KEREN”.

That row of KEREN : fire resistant clay-made bowls to cook serabi. What makes Serabi enhaii special is that they cook surabi with the heat comes from firewood. While some other surabi places cooks surabi with liquefied petroleum gas, which means the smell of hydrocarbon gases will be left on the food.

Surabi is available with various types of toppings. Sweet or savory, you name it. You may have it with vla  topping, shredded chees, chocolate and condensed milk, mayonnaise, eggs, banana and more. My favorite topping is Oncom mayonnaise. Oncom is mad eof fermented soybean.

Surabi with Oncom and mayonaise topping. Look at the runny mayonnaise. Tell me how can it not tempt you. Whenever I visit surabi enhaii, surabi oncom mayonnaise is always my absolute choice.

For a plate of surabi oncom mayonnaise it costs 5.500 rupiahs (1US$ = 9600 rupiahs, on October 2012). Definitely a real affordable delicious light meal you can get in Bandung, West Java, Indonesia.

Surabi with shredded cheddar cheese, condensed milk and sprinkled with chocolate. To be quite frank, it will never be my choice. Not only it is too sweet, but anything that consists of the mixture of cheese, chocolate and along with condensed milk doesn’t work magical on my tongue.

Other than surabi, in this place you can also have noodles and meatball with light gravy.

Ice yoghurt with grape syrup

Fresh Orange juice with cream

Bandrek. A traditional beverage made of coconut milk, ginger, palm sugar, white pepper and cinnamon

It doesn’t need a fancy place to hang out or pricy tasting menu to exfoliate your dull week, just as long as it represents the humility and the warmth of friendship and togetherness….blissful weekend will all be yours. I’m glad that I can share my weekend outing experience with my friends which I never shared on my blog before. I wish you guys a wonderful weekend with precious people around you. Have a great saturday night everyone. Peace out!🙂

Rest In Peace Amanda Todd, Go to Hell f*ckin Bullies!!

This was what Amanda Todd wrote before she committed suicide

This posting is out of my blog context and not a topic that I commonly publish on a regular basis. But all the sudden, I got the urge to write about a girl who recently committed suicide after receiving constant bullying from her classmates. One thing that attracted my attention was how some exceedingly inconsiderate people delivered their feedback on that issue.  Well, just in case you’re one of them…..You might think that bullying and making fun of people are totally entertaining until everyone who gets bullied and made fun of ends up like Amanda Todd. First off, I hope she rests in Peace. Serenity is all yours when you’re at the place where you get really close with your creator.

You find Amanda Todd mentally weak? And her death is her fault? The fact is,some people who get bullied have great parents+family+friends who keep them strong in the middle of environment which is full of retarded and pathetic rearholes thinking that making fun of people is the only entertainment they could freely afford.

Amanda Todd torn wrist

But not everyone is that lucky. We never know what other crisis do people like Amanda have. Parents divorce, financial state issues, ADHD,  Asperger, dyslexia, family violence,  and so on…it could be anything beyond our imagination. For god’s sake, we really have no goddamn idea about their lives. If you think that some kids are too vulnerable to deal with bullies, then be one to boost up their mentality strength. If you can’t…you better stop saying craps and blaming things on their high level of mental insecurity coz that doesn’t make you even one percent stronger than they are!
